Residencia Personal Altamente Cualificado

This is a temporary residence and work authorization that may be obtained by a foreign worker residing outside Spain to perform a work activity for which a higher education qualification or, exceptionally, a minimum of five years of professional experience that can be considered comparable, is required.

Companies may apply for a residence permit for highly qualified professionals, valid throughout the national territory, provided that they meet some of the characteristics or assumptions:

  • For small and medium-sized companies established in Spain, belonging to a sector considered strategic.
  • For business projects accredited as being of general interest.
  • For large companies with an average workforce of more than 250 employees in Spain, an annual turnover in Spain of more than 50 million euros or an average annual gross foreign investment of not less than 1 million euros in the last three years.

Community Residence

If you are a family member of a Spanish citizen or of another EU Member State, as well as of any of the Member States of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, provided that such family members do not hold the nationality of any of the aforementioned States, and provided that the objective is to join or accompany the EU citizen, and that they will reside in Spain together for a period of more than three months, you must apply for and obtain a EU citizen family member card.

Community Resident Certificate

Citizens of a Member State of the E.U. or of another State party to the Agreement on the E.E.E. who are going to reside in Spain for a period of more than three months, are obliged to apply in person before the Foreigners Office of the province where they intend to stay or take up residence or, failing that, before the corresponding Police Station, for their registration in the Central Register of Foreigners. Said application must be presented within three months from the date of entry into Spain, and a registration certificate will be issued immediately, stating the name, nationality and address of the person registered, his or her foreigner identity number and the date of registration.
